The body of deceased Dutch-Belgian teen model Ivana Smit has been released to her family, according to reports in the Sun this morning.
The paper spoke to a source close to the matter, who confirmed that her remains were indeed returned.
DutchNews added according to her family’s lawyer, Sebas Diekstra, their main priority was to repatriate her body back to the Netherlands. Only then can they continue pursuing the circumstances around Ivana’s death.
Earlier this week, Diekstra, via the Dutch foreign ministry, had requested the return of the dead teen’s body, alleging a lack of investigation into her death.
Her mysterious fall 14 story fall from a 20th-floor balcony has occupied local, and international headlines, with unanswered questions of just how something of this nature could have occurred.
She had previously been drinking with an expat couple and had gone back to their condo when the incident occurred. Preliminary reports indicate that both she and the couple tested positive for drugs. The case is currently classified as “sudden death.”
