A black plastic bag, hung on a tree near a condominium in the city, sparked suspicion leading to a bomb scare yesterday.
The New Straits Times reports that the package, discovered near the Sri Putramas I condominium at Jalan Kuching, was seen hanging o a tree about five metres away from two storage rooms containing gas cylinders.
The report said the plastic bag had contained a polystyrene box. The bomb disposal unit sent to the scene, however, discovered that the box was empty.
Sentul Fire and Rescue senior officer Zakaria Yusuf was quoted as saying that his team was prepared for a possible explosion due to the proximity of the package to the gas cylinder storage rooms.
“From the look of it, the box was intentionally tied to the tree by some unscrupulous person,” the NST quoted him as saying.
