Malaysia’s central bank has taken to social media in its hunt for two former employees of sovereign development fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), going so far as to produce an honest-to-gosh wanted poster with their personal details.
Bank Negara posted to its official Facebook account today photos and particulars of Casey Tan Keng Chee, 50, and Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, 42, described by the bank as instrumental in its ongoing investigations on alleged misconduct within 1MDB.
Both are sought to help Bank Negara in its investigation on 1MDB, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Exchange Control Act 1953.
According to past news reports by The Star, Tang was 1MDB’s business development executive, who moved away from the company after his contract expired in 2011.
Loo was described by The Star as a former 1MDB executive director in charge of group strategy who succeeded Tang after the latter resigned in March that year.
Bloomberg currently lists the Universiti Malaya graduate as an executive director in charge of compliance and legal matters with construction and engineering company UBG Berhad.
She is also listed as its joint Secretary since August 25, 2009.
Initially, the Facebook post featured a different design for the poster, which was headed by the words “WANTED BY BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA”, partially in red type:

The wording of the poster has been revised to be somewhat softer, with the new version saying instead “INDIVIDUALS SOUGHT BY BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA”, with no red type.
However, hopeful bounty hunters will be disappointed to note that no reward will be given to anyone presenting information on the whereabouts of either Tang or Loo.
Members of the public who do have anything to pass on to Bank Negara regarding the two individuals are nevertheless urged to contact Bank Negara Malaysia at 03-26988044 ext. 8554 / 7610 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
