Looks like the three-week wait for badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s doping case result is just too long for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
According to Bernama, the BAM reached out to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) with hopes of getting the result before the stipulated time frame.
Lee, 33, has been suspended since November when the BWF found that he had taken the banned substance dexamethasone at the World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August last year.
“If possible, we want Chong Wei to be involved in the Sudirman Cup tournament and the SEA Games. We will take the initiative so that we don’t have to wait up to three weeks. We have all carried out our responsibility to provide the best defence for Chong Wei, consequently (we) only hope all our presentations and arguments give a positive effect,” BAM deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria was quoted as saying.
Lee had his case heard before a three-man panel on April 11.
