With the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta proving to be such a hit with Malaysian families out for some high altitude fun, it was perhaps inevitable that the nation’s administrative capital would shoot for a permanent fixture along those lines – the Sky Ride Festivals Park will officially open its doors to the public tomorrow.
Grammatically unwieldy name aside, the Sky Ride Festivals Park aims to distill the excitement gnerated by the annual International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta into a year-round attraction.
Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Aziz said the theme park has been elevated to the country’s new top tourism destination for the Malaysia Year of Festivals (MyFEST) 2015 initiative.
“We are aiming to attract 29.4 million visitor arrivals and RM89 billion tourism receipts,” he said at the park’s launch ceremony yesterday, as quoted by The Sun Daily‘s Song Boon Mun.
The park’s main attraction will likely be the Skyrides Balloon, touted as Malaysia’s first and largest tethered balloon ride, which will lift visitors to a height of 120m, offering an unprecedented view of Putrajaya and its surrounding areas.
“As a new attraction in Malaysia, SkyRides Balloon is set to entice foreign tourists to visit Malaysia to experience the thrilling ride, which is built over water,” Nazri said.
Other interesting activities at the park include SkyWarrior Rainforest Challenge, SkyKids, SkyGallery, SkyDemo, SkyStage, SkyTastes and SkyCruise.
Fees are only charged for SkyRides Balloon and SkyWarrior Rainforest Challenge.
