Azalina: RM2.6 billion donated to PM Najib “without any conditions”

In the Dewan Rakyat today, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said stated that the contentious RM2.6 billion revealed to have been transferred into the personal bank accounts of Prime Minister Najib Razak in 2013, was in fact a donation from a Saudi royal given without any conditions.

Azalina was replying via a written statement to a question on the issue from Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian of PKR.

The minister added that after receving the donation, Najib returned most of it back to the (still unnamed) royal Saudi donor.

“In August 2013, he had returned the RM2.03 billion back to the Saudi royalty, as none of it was used,” Azalina said, as quoted by the New Straits Times Online‘s Nuradzimmah Daim.

Azalina’s statement is a repeat of that by Attotney-General Apandi Ali on January 26, when he said Najib had returned a bulk of the RM2.6 billion to its source as he declared there was no evidence of corrupt practices on the part of the Prime Minister.
