Assemblyman blames post-election mystery illness on suspected black magic

Having won the Pilah seat in the May 9th general election, things were looking on the up and up for PKR’s first-time assemblyman Mohamad Nazaruddin Sabtu.

However, shortly after acceding to the Negeri Sembilan seat, he was struck with a mysterious illness, forcing him to withdraw from his role as a publicly elected official, and the various work commitments that come with it due to the sickness.

Recently, the 62-year-old was absent from a four day long assembly meeting. He is currently the chairman of Negeri Sembilan’s arts, culture and Malay traditions committee. Nazaruddin was also a no-show at last Saturday’s state PKR polls, where he had worked as Kuala Pilah’s division deputy chief for the party.

One of his staff members has spoken to The Star and explained that he received hospital treatment after being diagnosed by medical doctors as being over-stressed. However, they also sought a second opinion at several places of “traditional treatment,” and it was here that they were told the the assemblyman could, in fact, be the victim of black magic.

Assuring constituents that Nazaruddin has appointed a proxy officer to man his seat’s service center, his aide also added that he is still undergoing treatment. Whether the treatment at hand was for stress or for the suspected black magic was not clarified — but one thing’s certain — his aide also “felt as if someone has cast a spell on him.”

Wondering what that means? So are we! For the assemblyman it meant a loss of appetite that improved after he received “traditional” treatment.

Good news. We wish you a speedy recovery, and all the best juju.
