Anwar Ibrahim files appeal to sodomy charge

Former Deputy Prime Minister and opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition patriarch Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed an appeal against his conviction and sentence of five years’ imprisonment over his sodomy charge. 

Anwar’s co-counsel Ramkarpal Singh filed a notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal at 10.30am this morning. 

Ramkarpal said Anwar would be present at the court registry before 1pm to sign his bail papers. 

Anwar’s aide Ibrahim Yaacob appeared as his bailor when he arrived at 10.30am for the administrative process.
