Federal opposotion leader and de facto head of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail were involved in a traffic accident last night, which left Anwar with a fractured arm.
The 10pm incident saw the vehicle Anwar and Wan Azizah were travelling in colliding head on with another car. They were heading home to Segambut from a dinner in Desa Sri Hartamas, The Malay Mail Online reports.
While Anwar sustained a fractured arm, Wan Azizah was cleared of any injury, as were the driver of the car and their bodyguard, who were also in the vehicle. The driver of the other car was also unhurt.
Both Anwar and Wan Azizah were put through physical examination at the Damansara Specialist Medical Centre.
The accident occured less than a month after the April 17 crash that took the life of Anwar’s ally, lawyer and DAP strongman Karpal Singh, who was en route from KL to Penang when his van was hit by a truck on the North-South Expressway near Kampar, Perak.
