After all the travelling he’s done, celebrity chef and reality show host Anthony Bourdain is going to put all his favourite global dishes together under one roof, and will open a food court in New York City.
Modelled after Singaporean and Malaysian street hawker centres, Bourdain’s international food emporium will host up to 50 food stalls, each of which will focus on one or two specialties, he told Departures magazine.
Stalls will be helmed by big name chefs and rising stars who specialise in the dishes sold, adds Departures.
The market will be divided into three parts, Bourdain said. The Asian food hall will feature Singaporean and Malay dishes; an international section will sell gourmet street foods like Mexican tostadas and American barbecue; and a third section will serve as a quarterly pop-up hall spotlighting a different city, country or region every three months.
Keeping to the street food concept, dishes at the food court will be priced from USD5 to USD25 (RM16.50 to RM82).
Despite Bourdain and partner Stephen Werthen keeping a tight lid on where the food court will be, rumour has it that it will end up being located at the new 3 World Trade Center.
