An American man has been killed, and a British female seriously injured, after their Yamaha Ego motorcycle skidded off the road and crashed on Pangkor Island. The accident occurred at Km 5 of Jalan Sungai Pinang Kecil-Teluk Dalam on Wednesday morning.

Jerry Ray Pizor died at the scene, while his British companion riding pillion, Lauren Claire Bailey, suffered extensive injuries to her head and face.

Police believe that 34-year-old Pizor lost control of his bike while driving from Sg Pinang Kecil to Teluk Dalam at 11:30am. The pair were riding downhill when they crashed into the divider on the right side of the road.

Bailey, 28, is being treated at Manjung Hospital.

Postmortem reports on the deceased male indicate he died of traumatic lung and abdominal injuries.

Malaysian police reported last year that motorcycle fatalities make up the bulk of road deaths in the country. Out of the 7,152 people who died in road accidents, 4,484 (62.7 per cent) of them were motorcyclists.

Stay safe, kids, and we wish Ms. Bailey a speedy recovery.
