Almost 450 (!) areas around the Klang Valley to face water disruptions

It was supposed to be a wet and damp season in Malaysia, but unfortunately that didn’t translate to our water taps.

Although maintainence and upgrading works at the Sungai Langat water treatment plant have been completed, almost 450 areas around the Klang Valley will continue to face water disruptions, The New Straits Times reports.

The districts affected by the water disruption are Hulu Langat (371), Kuala Lumpur (70) and Petaling (7).

Air Selangor Group corporate communicate head Amin Lin Abdullah told the daily that water supply to service reservoirs is being restored in stages and the disruption, set to take place every alternate day, is expected to end latest by December 13.

Amin added that the water supply to 409 areas which fall under Zone 1 was stopped from 9am on Thursday.

“Water supply will resume two days later starting from 4pm. As for Zone 2 (39 areas), water supply will resume in stages from 4pm today and will be stopped two days later from 9am. It will be channeled again two days later starting from 4pm,” he was quoted as saying.

Relief water supply will be sent by water tankers to affected areas, Amin added.
