All schools in Perlis, Kedah to close for two days due to heatwave: Edu Ministry

All schools in Kedah and Perlis have been ordered to close tomorrow and Wednesday following exceedingly hot temperatures in both states.

The Education Ministry decided today that schools would close if temperatures go beyond 39°C for three consecutive days, The Star Online reports.

“It will be decided on Wednesday if schools will remain closed due to the extremely hot weather,” minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid was quoted as saying.

The weather up north of the peninsular has reached up to 39.2°C.

The hot and dry weather is expected to abate between May and June.
