AirAsia has been named the best low-cost airline in the world for the seventh consecutive year at the Skytrax World’s Airline Awards held at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget.
In second place was Virgin America, followed by Norwegian and easyJet. The awards were given based on a global survey involving 19 million travellers.
Its group chief executive Tan Sri Tony Fernandes accepted the award saying: “We faced many challenges this past year but I am proud to say that our staff banded together for our guests and we have emerged stronger than ever. To be named the ‘World’s Best’ for the seventh consecutive year is an incredible honour, and I dedicate it to the 17,000 AirAsia Allstars who are the force behind it all.”
Skytrax named Qatar Airways the world’s best airline, followed by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways.
