AirAsia cancels seven flights to China due to severe storm

AirAsia was forced to cancel flights to several destinations in China due to the severe tropical storm Nida.

In a post uploaded to their official Facebook page, the low-cost carrier is closely monitoring the impact of the storm.

“AirAsia would like to notify that flights operating in southern China from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Johor Bahru for 1st and 2nd August 2016 will be cancelled due to Severe Tropical Storm Nida,” it said in the posting.

AirAsia added that affected passengers will be notified via SMS and e-mail, and guests are advised to update their contact details as soon as possible.

“The airline strongly encourages all guests to update their contact details at airasia.com to ensure that they are notified of any updates to their flights,” AirAsia said.

According to a report by CNN, Typhoon Nida — which is reportedly generating winds up to 150km/h — is currently heading towards China and has reportedly affected 181 flights in Hong Kong.
