The student who sparked a nationwide conversation about the safety of students in schools after reporting a teacher for telling a rape joke does not want you to donate any funds to unendorsed petitions. If you really want to help, prayers are welcome, Ain Husniza said.
The 17-year-old, who went to SMK Puncak Alam in Selangor, along with her parents, have been served with a letter of demand calling on them to pay RM1 million (S$240,000) in damages to the physical education teacher she had reported to police for making an inappropriate statement about rape in class. The letter, sent by the Rasshidi Ema & Yung law firm on behalf of the unidentified teacher, had also asked them to act on another four unspecified demands within seven days.

“Hi please [don’t] donate money to any un-endorsed petitions. I do not have any official petitions as of currently,” the student said on Twitter today, a day after she and her father announced the teacher’s legal action.
In the letter of demand, Ain said yesterday that she was accused of making defamatory remarks against the teacher without elaborating what the offending statements were. The letter came months after she reported her physical education teacher to the police for inappropriately telling students in her class to rape older people.
“Today suddenly during online class I received a letter of demand on ‘defamatory statements’ I apparently made (sic),” Ain had said, adding: “All I ask is for everyone to pray for me that everything will be made easier.”

On the same day, her father Saiful Nizam Abdul Wahab said that the letter was delivered at 2pm.
“There are five demands and one of them is to pay RM1 million in damages,” he said. “Following lawyer’s advice, we will not comment further on this for now.”
