AG in the UK to see who should get MH370’s black box

A groupd of international experts have converged in the United Kingdom to discuss which country should have custody of missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 if it is retrieved by search teams.

Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein said, “The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other related experts, including our Attorney-General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail are currently discussing the custody of the black box once it is found.”

The custody of the black box recorder will be based on the jurisdiction of international and domestic laws.

Three special committees – the Parliamentary Select Committee, the Experts Committee and a Royal Commission – will be set up following the Joint Agency Coordination Centre’s (JACC) confirmation that the “ping” signals detected in the southern Indian Ocean were indeed from Flight MH370’s black box.

“I think we are getting close to the issue after the Chief Coordinator of the JACC Air Chief Marshal (retired) Angus Houston yesterday confirmed that the pulse signals detected by the search and recovery teams were from the black box.”

Hishamuddin added that police invesigations into the case of Flight MH370 are still based on four possible areas: hijacking, sabotage, psychological issues or personal problems.
