After a weekend “auction” over unclaimed parcels at a Kangar, Perlis Ramadan bazaar, a spokesperson for DHL Express Malaysia has now said that the company was investigating the alleged incident.
Starting bids began at RM15 (US$3.50) for sundry parcels of varying sizes and weight, with members of the public able to purchase their very own mystery package to take home. Many of the packages had tape and stickers bearing the DHL company logo.

A picture of the flash sale slash auction went viral over the weekend, with members of the public expressing exasperation over the fact that private property was being sold off. Others lamented the delivery diligence of some couriers to actually get the packages to their intended recipient. Ahem.
In a media statement, DHL clarified: “…the safety and security of our customers’ shipments are of paramount importance.
“We are currently conducting an internal investigation on this matter and will take the necessary actions as swiftly as possible.”
There is no indication where the parcels came from, or who was behind the auction.
In other news, if anyone in the greater Perlis area gets a high-end foam roller intended for delivery in the Damansara Heights neighborhood of KL circa late 2017 – well, happy holidays and enjoy all that sweet relief.
