After floods, over 100,000 tonnes of rubbish cleared

Over 100,000 tonnes of rubbish have been cleared out of flood-hit areas since devastation hit last month.

And there’s still more to go, says Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

“This amount is growing by leaps and bounds everyday,” he told the New Straits Times. According to Abdul Rahman, the total amount of garbage and debris could be well over 200,000 tonnes.

He said the Health Ministry would help his team get rid of animal carcasses and that schools would become the primary focus for clean-ups.
