After another LRT breakdown, commuters vent anger on social media

Hundreds of peak hour commuters on their way to work were left stranded when the electricity for RapidKL’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) service for the Kelana Jaya line unexpectedly tripped.

According to a report by The New Straits Times, the power trip happened at around 7am on Wednesday after a heavy downpour.

As a result, several main LRT stations such as Ampang Park, KL Sentral and Masjid Jamek were packed with people, many unaware of the power trip.

To make matters worse, a lot of motorists who were stuck in an unusual traffic jam around the city center decided to park their cars and use the train, only to find the stations were fully packed, The Star Online reported.

Of course, when unscheduled breakdowns like this happen, you can expect angry commuters to voice their displeasure on social media.

And that was what they did.

While waiting for RapidKL to rectify the problem, some of the stranded commuters took to their social media to vent their anger and frustration over the train delays and RapidKL’s poor handling of the situation:

As of 11am, RapidKL tweeted that the power has been restored for stations between Setiawangsa to Damai, and they are still trying to restore the power to the entire line:
