A local actress was detained after anti-narcotics police found more than 30kg of ganja in her apartment in Damansara.
The Sun reported that the teenage actress – said to be a college student and is set to appear in a local TV series soon – along with a 22-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend and two other male youths, aged 19 and 20, were held after a district anti-narcotics police team raided their condominium unit on 19 April.
The police hauled up all four suspects and seized the drugs said to be worth several hundred thousand ringgit on the street.
The suspects are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
Sources close to the probe said initial investigations revealed that the ganja supplied to college students were from a drug ring allegedly led by the oldest suspect. The daily also learnt that the main suspect of the ring is a close relative of a political aide of a minister.
Meanwhile, the actress is expected to miss the launch of her new TV drama next month and judging by how things are going, she’ll most probably miss the rest of her life if found guilty.
