37-year old actor Khaeryll Benjamin Ibrahim, better known to local audiences as Benjy, stood accused in the Muar Magistrate Court in Johor for the crime of distributing syabu, or methamphetamines.
Benjy, the son of late screen diva Azean Irdawaty, was charged alongside his friend and alleged accomplice, Raja Shariff Hidayatullah Raja Shariffuddin, 27.
Both are accused of having distributed about 1.3kg of the narcotic, found in the car they were driving at 1.40am in a petrol station near Jalan Pagoh-Muar on March 27.
If convicted, both of the accused could be sentenced to a mandatory death penalty by hanging.
Harian Metro reports the case will have a mention in court on May 28.
