Accidents waiting to happen at Kota Damansara PPR flats

The tragic death of five-year-old Muhammad Hazriq Danish Alden at the Kota Damansara Public Housing Project (PPR) flats on Wednesday has triggered the alarm on a long-standing problem.

The child had fallen to his death from the sixth floor while playing along the corridor.

The Malay Mail’s Ushar Daniele yesterday visited the low-cost flat and discovered a number of unsettling structures. Among them were missing metal railings in stairways and corridors, faulty lifts, broken main water pipe and gaps between railings.

The daily interviewed residents of the flat who revealed that complaints had been made numerous times to the building’s management but with no result.

“A boy died in vain due to the lackadaisical attitude of the management and I hope they will take our complaints seriously after this. “The management would urge residents to write in complaints but action is not forthcoming,” Maznah Hashan, 60, was quoted as saying.

Another resident pointed out that one complaint could sometimes take up to a month to get noticed.
