Parts of the Bandar Puncak Alam township in Shah Alam has been cut off from access by the public due to heavy flooding which began on Sunday night.

A total of 144 residents in the area had to be evacuated from their homes in Jalan Lautan Samudera when floodwaters rushed into their residences. About 167 homes were affected in last night’s flooding.

As of 8am this morning, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said the members of about 30 families had been relocated to the At Taufiqiah Surau in Puncak Alam.

“Besides the Fire and Rescue Department, other agencies involved in the evacuation operation were the police, Rela and Malaysian Civil Defence Department (JPAM),” he told Bernama

Road traffic has been ground to a halt throughout Shah Alam, with floods also hitting the Shah Alam toll plaza. Traffic is slow moving along the NKVE< Guthrie and ELITE highways.

The Star Online also reports that the freeway stretch from Citta Mall to the Subang Skypark roundabout is also congested due to floods.

There are reports of a landslide near the Kewajipan interchange heading to Subang. It is blocking the left lane and causing congestion from HICOM.
