A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in the surau (prayer room) of a petrol station earlier this morning in Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan, 20km outside of Kuala Lumpur.

A customer at the station found him wrapped in a batik cloth, inside a paper bag, at 7:26am, with his umbilical cord still attached.

Police were called and the baby was sent to Serdang Hospital for treatment, although officials report that he appeared to be in good health.

Citizens are being asked to contact Serdang police with any information regarding the child’s parents.
