A sad story from Klang this Chinese New Year week: an 87-year-old man who lived by himself was robbed of his ‘ang pow’ money and murdered.
This dastardly act was committed after Ong Chock Meng, a father of six, received RM1,000 as ‘ang pow’ during the festivities, The Star Online’s Wani Muthiah reports.
His body was found near the staircase of his rented home in Taman Sentosa at 8am yesterday. According to South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Azman Abdul Razak, the iron grille at the entrance of his home was cut open.
The house’s sliding door had also been forced open.
“There were abrasions on Ong’s face and head, but there was no blood on the body or at the scene. We recovered a 23cm knife and a screw driver near the deceased’s feet,” ACP Azman was quoted as saying.
His son told The Star Online that his father lived along for 16 years and who worked as the secretary of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Tong An Association, was robbed of cash as well as his mobile phone.
