6 Selangor narcotics cops arrested in connection to RM36 mil syabu seizure

Six officers from Selangor’s anti-narcotics enforcement task force have been placed under arrest on suspicion of being on the payroll of a major drug syndicate, which was broken up last week with a massive RM36 million seizure of syabu, or methamphetamines that spanned Selangor and Perak.

Sources told G Prakash and Praven Suppayah of the Malay Mail that the six officers – one inspector and five lance corporals – were allegedly paid a total of RM100,000 by drug lords over the past six months to overlook the syabu processing and distribution operation.

The sources also say officers from the Serdang and South Klang district police headquarters came across information leading to the drug syndicate between three and six months ago.

“We believe the six made a pact with the syndicate not to expose their activities, provided they were paid enough to keep quiet,” one source said.

On April 20, task force members from the federal Narcotics Department and its Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) carried out coordinated raids on a storehouse in Melintang, Perak and two drug processing labs in Shah Alam, arresting 10 Malaysians, including a chemist, in the process.

The raids netted a haul of 239kg of syabu worth RM36 million, RM2.8 million in cash, 78,000 Rupees (RM4,600), a Luger pistol and a magazine of ammo, 38 9mm bullets, assorted jewellery, 12 cars of various makes, and two motorcycles.

Sounds to us the six shady cops arrested for accepting hush money should have negotiated for even more money then they were paid, given the scale of the syndicate they were protecting.
