Things are really getting out of hand here.
In Kuala Lumpur, 50 taxi drivers reportedly ‘ambushed’ an Uber driver and two passengers, leaving one of them injured.
According to a report by China Press, as translated by Malaysiakini, the drivers had allegedly been waiting at KL Sentral on Monday morning as the Uber driver arrived to pick up an Iranian couple.
The report stated that the Iranian couple arrived at the lobby and had used a phone app to book their ride. Things got pretty crazy after that, according to the report.
“When the driver arrived, the couple got into the car but were dragged out by about 50 taxi drivers, causing injuries to the woman,” the daily reported, adding that rocks were used to break the car’s windows.
According to China Press, the woman was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment while the owner of the car lodged a police report.
The Chinese-language daily quoted Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief ACP Nazri Hussain as saying that the case was now handled by the CID.
He was quoted further as saying that as long as the owner of the car could prove that the suspects had acted intentionally, the police would investigate and would not let off the perpetrators.
However, if the case turned out to be a dispute related to a traffic accident, it would be handed over to the Traffic and Enforcement department, Nazri reportedly said.
