50 cabbies did not attack Uber driver: police

The police have denied reports that 50 cab drivers attacked an Uber driver at KL Sentral on Wednesday.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Sharul Othman Mansor told The New Straits Times that it was actually a scuffle between the Uber driver and one taxi driver.

“The incident took place at 12.30pm on Monday.

“The Uber vehicle, which was ferrying an Iranian passenger to her destination, was obstructed by two or three taxi drivers.

“This led to an argument between them,” he was quoted as saying.

Sharul has also denied reports of a broken car window, supposedly resulting from an object thrown towards the vehicle.

On Wednesday, China Press reported that 50 taxi drivers ‘ambushed’ an Uber driver and two passengers, leaving one of them injured.
