5-year old drowns in condo swimming pool near Bukit Beruntung

A five-year old boy drowned while playing in the swimming pool of a condominium complex in Taman Bukit Raya, near Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, last night.

The 6.15pm incident saw residents noticing the lifeless body of the victim, Putera Uwais Aryan Mohd Hanizam Humaizi, while they were walking past the swimming pool area.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Superinendent R Supramaniam told Sinar Harian that Putera Uwais was last seen playing in the pool area with his older sister.

“The victim was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before being sent to a private clinic nearby,” Supramaniam said.

“However, that clinic did not have any breathing assistance equipment.”

While being transported to a second private clinic, the victim was pronounced dead. His remains were then taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem.

36-year old resident Adzly Hatta Mansor had attempted to revive the victim before he was sent to the clinic.

“I saw him floating in the pool and immediately took him out of the water. By that time his face was blue and foam was coming out of his nose,” Adzly recounted.

“I lifted him to land and tried to pump water out of his chest and mouth. He still had a pulse at the time.”

Putera Uwais’ body was interred at the Bukit Beruntung Muslim cemetery last night.
