Here’s one woman who won’t be winning any Mother Of The Year awards anytime soon — or ever.
A 41-year-old mother in Kampung Manis, Prai, was reported to police yesterday afternoon for allegedly meting out some hard punishment on the tiny body of her daughter using a blunt object, reports Harian Metro.
Neighbours called the cops on the woman after they heard the young victim screaming and begging for mercy.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief assistant commissioner Rusli Mohd Noor said neighbours had lodged a report at a nearby police station.
Police responded immediately to arrest the victim’s mother to facilitate further investigations.
The 5-year-old daughter was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital to receive treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.
The victim was severely beaten and there were numerous bruises on her back and face.
She was beaten up by her mother for refusing to study. The suspect was believed to have responded aggressively because she was under the influence of drugs.
The victim’s mother is unemployed and her urine had tested positive for drugs. Police will obtain a remand order for the woman from the Bukit Mertajam magistrate court for further investigations.
