42-year-old single mother marries 18-year-old teen

When you’re in love, age is just a number.

The above saying is especially true for an 18-year-old teenager from Kuala Penyu in Sabah when he recently married a 42-year-old woman.

According to The Star Online, Mohd Sufie Alin and Dayang Sopiah Gusti, who is a mother of five, got married in a small ceremony at the Beaufort district mosque last Tuesday.

The wedding ceremony was reportedly attended by families from both sides.

“They are mature enough to make their own decisions, including getting married.

“What is important is that Sufie did not disturb someone else’s wife and they wish to continue their relationship the Islamic way.

“Therefore, I have no problem and consider Sopiah to be the soulmate of Sufie, which has been decided by God,” the boy’s father, 52-year-old Alin @ Matalin Utam, told Harian Metro, as translated by The Star Online.

Despite only getting to know about his son’s plans to wed Dayang just days before the wedding, Alin told the Malay daily that he fully supports Mohd Sufie.

“I was able to advise Sufie to be a responsible husband as he does not only need to care for his wife but also his five stepsons,” he was quoted as saying.

A picture showing Mohd Sufie putting a gold ring on Dayang Sopiah’s finger was uploaded onto Facebook and has since gone viral, drawing plenty of mixed reactions from Netizens.
