3yo in KL Sentral escalator accident loses left foot

An afternoon at KL Sentral turned into a nightmare for a family of three yesterday.

The father of a three-year-old boy said he heard his wife and son screaming as soon as they rode an escalator at the transit hub.

“They were behind me. I turned and saw my son’s leg inside the gap in the side panel of the escalator but could not do anything to help him,” Nasaruddin Mohd Idris, 40, told The Malay Mail Online.

The boy lost part of his left foot but is otherwise in stable condition.

According to the report, the incident happened at 3:30pm but it wasn’t unttil three hours later that firemen were able to retrieve the body part.

By that time, it was too late for the doctors at Kuala Lumpur Hospital to re-attach the severed foot.
