24 people charged with misappropriating over RM10m belonging to Maybank Islamic Berhad

In Sessions Court earlier today, charges were read out to a total of 24 people – with a family of 13 amongst them – by two court interpreters, spanning a total of 90 minutes on counts of misappropriation of property and an alternative charge of dishonestly receiving stolen property. 

The Star Online reports that a total of RM10.2 million was deposited into their Tabung Haji accounts from Oct 2014 to Jan 2015. 

In addition to the above charge, another round of charges were brought before eleven of them laundering RM2.5 million. 

Ranging from the age of 23 to 62 years, the accused have allegedly committed the offence at different locations such as Menara Maybank in Jalan Tun Perak and Tabung Haji in Jalan Tun Razak during the time period. 

Currently, each of the accused were given a RM8,000 bail and the case is to be continued on May 3.
