1MDB slams The Edge report alleging fraud by Jho Low and PetroSaudi

Sovereign development fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has issued a statement lambasting the extensive report published by The Edge today alleging billionaire Jho Low and the bosses of PetroSaudi had conspired to defraud 1MDB of some USD1.83 billion (RM6.9 billion).

In brief statement published on its official website, 1MDB said it “did not expect to see outdated and unsubstantiated allegations” against its operations to resurface, and stressed that there are already several investigations underway into the company’s accounts and transactions.

1MDB is now under a probe by Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), and another investigation is being conducted by a Special Task Force comprising of the PDRM, the MACC, the Attorney-General’s Chambers, and Bank Negara.

1MDB’s statement also read, “Any parties that can assist investigators should do so within the existing legal framework, without having to resort to making irresponsible and sensationalist news reports.”
