1MDB: Jho Low to appear before PAC on Sept 8

Billionaire businessman and one of the key figures in the controversy surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad, Low Taek Jho — better known as Jho Low — has been summoned to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Sept 8.

According to The Star Online, the PAC had sent a letter to the Finance Ministry asking him to be present before the parliamentary committee.

PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed told the portal that the ministry received the letter because it was the main shareholder of 1MDB.

“They should know his whereabouts or be able to trace him,” he was quoted as saying adding that the ministry had resources to trace Jho Low.

Jho Low is the latest to be called to face the PAC; the investment company’s past and present chiefs Datuk Sharol Halmi and Arul Kanda are expected to face the committee on Aug 4 and 5 respectively, while its board of directors will appear on Aug 17.
