1MDB: Company owner released on bail

The 28-year-old owner of local trading company who was detained over investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) controversy has been released on bail.

The Star Online reports that the Setapak-based company owner was allowed out after the magistrate’s court set a bail of RM50,000 with two guarantors.

According to an unnamed spokesperson from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) quoted in the report, the commission did not find it necessary to extend his remand after getting his statement.

He was among five people who have been remanded by the special task force investigating corruption surrounding the state investment company.
