16 students arrested outside Parliament after protest

A group of youngsters who gathered outside the Parliament house last night were arrested and sent to the Jinjang police lock-up.

The Rakyat Post reports that the #OccupyParliament protest in which the youths had participated was similar in tone to the upcoming massive Bersih 4.0 rally; they were demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Speaking to TRP’s Michael Murty, lawyer Dinesh Muthal said information has been scarce.

“Sixteen of them were arrested in front of Parliament and brought directly to Jinjang,” he told the portal.

The protest — where the students vowed to sit-in until Najib resigns — began in the afternoon.
