A 12-year-old boy was killed by lightning in Kampar, Perak yesterday, while playing football with his friends.
The New Straits Times reports that the incident happened around 5.30pm.
“It was raining heavily then. His neighbour had heard lightning and moments later, he saw Udin collapsed in the field,” district police chief Superintendent Ng Kong Soon was quoted as saying.
“The neighbour then drove his car to the field to retrieve the boy before rushing him to Hospital Kampar accompanied by his mother,” he was quoted further.
The boy, Muhammad Udin Dulkafi of SK Kampar, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
