12-year-old boy found dead in drain

A 12-year-old boy who failed to return home Sunday evening was found dead in a drain at a housing area in Kajang.

According to police, the boy had gone to a car workshop at 9am.

“The boy had left his house at 9am to the car workshop. It has been his routine to volunteer helping mechanics at the workshop in his spare time. He would return home in the evening,” the New Straits Times quoted Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan as saying.

Just after 8pm, the boy’s father left home to look for his son at the workshop but found that it was closed. The workshop’s owner later told him that the boy had left at 7pm.

The man’s neighbour then informed him the boy was last seen playing near a drain at the field of Section 1, Bandar Rinching.

Police have classified the case as sudden death.
