Some 100 patients were forced to evacuate Klang’s Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah yesterday when a fire broke out at one of the wards.
The Star Online reports that these patients — admitted to various floors of the hospital — were told to leave the building as soon as the blaze started around 4.40pm.
Hospital director Dr Ding Lay Meng was quoted as saying that the fire had started on ward 7B which had 49 patients. No casualties were reported.
”All hospital staff worked together calmly and helped evacuate all patients to safety,” he was quoted further adding that normal operations resumed at 6pm.
The fire was believed to have started near the ward’s oxygen point.
