A Rahim Razali movie might be nominated for an Oscar

Screen legend and national treasure Rahim Razali might soon be the star of an Academy Award-nominated movie.

Sayang Disayang, a Singaporean movie and the directorial debut of filmmaker Sanif Olek, has been selected by the Singapore Film Commission as its submission this year for the Oscars’ Best Foreign Language Film category.

It is the first Malay-language film to be submitted by Singapore to the Oscars.

Sayang Disayang is the gripping drama of a live-in nurse who has to deal with the lonely and bitter elderly man she’s been hired to look after. The movie was made on a budget of SGD400,000 (RM1.02 million) and had premiered as the closing film of the Southeast Asian Film Festival in Singapore this past May.
