One Mic Stand celebrating six year anniversary from now til Saturday

Malaysia’s longest-running open mic comedy night is celebrating their anniversary in style, with a nearly week-long blow-out including all the LOLz.

Founded by KL’s legendary Crackhouse Comedy Club owner Rizal Van Geyzel and veteran comedian Kavin Jay (He of the very funny Netflix special you should check out: Everybody Calm Down), the night was initially a platform to grow Malaysia’s local comedy scene.

Van Geyzel and Jay have since passed the baton to Brian Tan and Prakash Daniel, and the two have put together a mini-festival to showcase Malaysia’s best, and the soon-to-be-greats.

MEGA OMS 6 starts June 26, running til June 30. We realize that we are a day late to this, and for that we are truly sad.

The good news? We have several days ahead to make up for missing last night, and SO. DO. YOU, reader.

Wednesday, June 27, will is OMS Junior, featuring the latest batch of young comics just cutting their teeth in the game.

Friday, June 29, will be a bi-lingual Tamil and English show, TAMIZHAN! A first of its kind in Malaysia, festival organizers hope that it will provide a very necessary spotlight for Indian comics to showcase a multitude of laughs, observances and nuances in their mother tongue.

Saturday, June 30, will see a finale featuring the current OMS show runners called The Brian and Prakash Comedy Hour. Like the title suggests, it features both Brian and Prakash, for 30 minutes each.

There you have it! Expect appearances from some of the best local talent with Kavin Jay, Rizal Van Geyzel, Phoon Chi Ho, Keren Bala Devan all scheduled to make appearances.
