The Mrs World 2022 contestant from Malaysia, Olivia Nicholas, has already made it into the Malaysia Book of Records and will represent Malaysia in Las Vegas later this month.
The 30-year-old lawyer from Ipoh who won the title of Mrs. Malaysia World 2022 in October, set a record for Malaysia by donning a national costume covered in 10,000 five-cent coins.
The national costume to be worn by Olivia at the Mrs World 2022 pageant on Dec. 17 was unveiled last night, Bernama reported.
Olivia showcased the costume, which incorporated Sabah and Sarawak traditional elements, and created history in Malaysian pageantry as she appeared as the ‘Destar Siga’ Queen at the event which was also witnessed by representatives of the Malaysia Book of Records.
The “Destar Siga” cloth, an indigenous type of woven fabric that was created by the Kadazan Dusun community in Sabah and worn as a headpiece during traditional festivities, is depicted on the five-cent coin.
The gown was created by Sarawakian designer Saran Anak Lagong, according to Datin Harveen Kaur, national director of Mrs Malaysia World Sdn Bhd.
Harveen Kaur said Olivia will compete with representatives from over 60 countries for the Mrs World 2022 coveted crown in Las Vegas from Dec. 10 to 17.
