Here’s photo evidence that Malaysia’s political drama is worthy of an anime series, thanks to Snapchat’s new photo filter.

The new filter was added to the platform just two days ago, turning regular people into anime characters by tracing facial attributes as well as hair and skin color. Coconuts KL took the liberty of transforming Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and other politicians like Syed Saddiq and Hannah Yeoh into such characters so you won’t have to.

Let’s see who radiates main character energy best:

Muhyiddin Yassin

The anime version of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin looks like a character who could be a high-ranking officer of some sort, giving out orders to those below him. His nemesis could be opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who this week declared in a surprise press conference that he had the majority support to form a new government.

Muhyiddin has since dismissed the claim as “meaningless,” although the royal palace already confirmed the king’s meeting with Anwar when his majesty is in better health

Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman

Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman’s anime character looks like one with a second-lead syndrome – ready to save the day when the first lead is somehow tied up. Cute!

The MP representing Muar constituency began his fellowship in public service at a university in Singapore last week. The six-week fellowship program allows leaders in the government, nonprofit and private sectors to learn and discuss public policies and global issues.

Hannah Yeoh

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh looks kawaii (cute) as an anime character. She’d be the character who often chooses to be kind and helpful, even showing mercy to antagonists at times. In real life, the 41-year-old has been busy helping the Warisan (Sabah Heritage Party) campaign for Saturday’s elections, both online and offline.

Khairy Jamaluddin

Unfortunately, Snapchat’s anime filter is not compatible with facial hair and had removed Khairy Jamaluddin’s beard and moustache, making the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation appear to age backwards.

After Anwar’s surprise new government announcement on Tuesday, Khairy posted a cheeky photo of an empty conference room saying that cabinet ministers had just completed a meeting and that there was no sign of a collapse.

“Just finished a meeting. Nothing has fallen yet,” his tweet read.

Kasthuriraani Patto

The anime version of Batu Kawan rep Kasthuriraani Patto appears really friendly, approachable and optimistic. The 41-year-old Democratic Action Party member began her political career in 2014, and has since been the voice for women and minorities both online and in parliament.

Noor Hisham Abdullah

Here’s another proof that the filter works poorly on facial hair. It cleaned up Health Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah’s face, making him appear way younger than he is.

But it sure made him look like “the smart one,” and ready to solve mysteries with a magnifying glass in hand.

Noor Hisham has been the face of Malaysia’s COVID-19 response, making regular announcements and observations of the public health situation in the country. Last week, the former surgeon encouraged the public to celebrate “World Patient Safety Day” by lighting up the state of Putrajaya in shades of orange.

Shafie Apdal

Warisan leader Shafie Apdal looks tough as an anime and could be the guy that villains like to mess with until they realize they have underestimated him.

Shafie was Sabah’s chief minister before he dissolved the legislative assembly to make way for the state’s snap elections. Over a million Sabahans will go to the polls to vote for a new state government Saturday.

Mahathir Mohamad

Anime-Mahathir Mohamad looks like he would fit the role of a wise uncle behind the plot twist of a story. Who knows, he may or may not be secretly in control of everything that’s going on.

Mahathir recently established his own political party, Pejuang (Warriors), and removed himself from the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

Wan Azizah was Malaysia’s first female deputy prime minister until the current government took over. Her motherly nature seems to have translated into her anime look as well.

Wan Azizah is currently the MP for Pandan, Selangor.

Bonus: Rosmah Mansor

Rosmah Mansor is no doubt a non-politician with great political influence, given recent revelations from the 1MDB trial. As an anime, she still looks like she is somewhat in control. Perhaps, the role of a landlord would suit her best in an anime series.

Famous for her love of Birkins and expensive watches, the 68-year-old wife of disgraced prime minister Najib Razak is currently on trial for her involvement in the 1MDB scandal.
