Whatever Bollywood legend Rajinikanth touches, turns to gold.
The actor’s latest movie, ‘Kabali’, is on track to become one of the highest grossing films in Malaysia ever, having already raked in RM12 million in its first week of showing.
Datuk Abdul Malik Dashtigeer, co-producer of the film, told Bernama that the reception to the film was extraordinary as tickets were flying off the ticketing counter since its nationwide release on July 22.
‘Kabali’ is currently showing in 498 cinemas around the country.
“Kabali is certainly a mega hit movie in Malaysia with ticket sale of RM12 million as of today,” he was quoted by the news agency as saying.
Malik added that the amount collected did not include the Malay-dubbed version of the film, which was released in several cinemas last week.
In the movie, Rajinikanth stars as a Malaysian gangster don named Kabaliswaran. ‘Kabali’ was filmed at several locations in Malaysia and also starred several local actors such as Datuk Rosyam Nor and Norman Hakim.
