It was a wedding with matching octaves for the bride and groom, as Malaysian Idol alum Jaclyn Victor married Shawn Rivera of American R’n’B group Az Yet in a private ceremony in Philadelphia on July 19.
Az Yet enjoyed a fair measure of popularity in the mid-90s with their breakout single “Last Night” and their version of Chicago’s “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”. Rivera, 43, also works behind the scenes as a lyricist and composer.
Jaclyn told Astro Awani that the two first met in Malaysia this past January, and that it was “love at first sight”.
“We met in Malaysia when Shawn flew down to record the single “Magical Moments”, the collaboration we were doing for the Ribbit movie soundtrack,” she said.
Ribbit is a new computer animated feature fillm produced by local powerhouse KRU Studios and Crest Animation.
Jaclyn also confidede that the intimate wedding ceremony was attended by on 35 of the couple’s closest friends and family.
Jaclyn is currently gearing up for the September release of her new album, Unleashed.
