Thaipusam is just around the corner, and as is usually the case for the run-up to the massive Hindu celebration in Batu Caves, several roads in KL are set to be closed.
KL traffic police investigation and traffic low officer S Markandan told The Malaysian Insider that roads linking Halan Tun HS Lee to Batu Caves will begin to be closed to motor traffic in stages from 4pm on Friday until Saturday evening, to make way for the Thaipusam procession.
For the return procession, the same roads will again closed and reopened in stages from 4pm Monday until early Tuesday.
Here are the roads and areas that will be affected:
Jalan Tun H.S. Lee
Jalan Sultan
Jalan Pudu
Jalan Tun Perak
Jalan Leboh Ampang
Jalan Ampang
Jalan Munshi Abdullah
Jalan Dang Wangi

Jalan Tun Razak (U-turn in front of the Fire and Rescue Department)

“If possible, use public transport to get to your destination. I understand that there will be transport provided for the celebrations,” Markandan said.
“Don’t park your vehicles on the designated routes. By obstructing traffic, you risk getting summoned or your vehicle towed away.”
