Malaysia-born Hollywood actor Henry Golding today called American politician Andrew Yang “an actual twat” after the latter voiced his support for Israel amid the latest spate of violence that has killed dozens of Palestinians.

Yang, 46, was among several global personalities who have reacted to the latest conflict arising from attempts to drive Palestinians out of their homes in East Jerusalem, by taking Israel’s stand on the matter. Crazy Rich Asians star Golding, 34, who appears to be in support of the plight of Palestinians, stood up to him on Twitter, drawing praise online.

“You are an actual twat,” Golding, who became a new dad in March, said.

Yang, who is running for New York mayor, had written about “standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks” and condemning the Hamas terrorists in the West Bank and Gaza.

“The people of NYC will always stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face down terrorism and persevere,” he said.

More than 30 Palestinians including children have died since clashes erupted earlier this week while two Israelis have died, according to reports. Israeli police had on Monday fired tear gas and rubber bullets at Muslims worshipping at the Al-Aqsa mosque, injuring hundreds of Palestinians.

Twitter user Hanimomo was among those who applauded Golding for his comment, saying: “King has spoken. Proud moment here.”

Twitter user @Sfqomhz praised Golding for making Malaysia proud. “Once again, Henry Golding is making our country proud,” she wrote.

Other global celebrities who have reacted to the conflict include supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, who are of Palestinian descent, and singer Dua Lipa, who voiced her support for Palestine.
