Tiffin the food event that brings together drinking, dining and food-related experiences is back, with weekend-long culinary benders from now until Christmas. Tiffin Food Court is intent on having you experience the typical Malaysian food court in a completely different way.
They’re taking over 30,000 square feet of industrial space at the former Tamura Warehouse, an old electronics manufacturing plant, in Kelana Jaya, and hosting over 30 vendors to create a mish mash of hawker favorites, casual haute cuisine, cocktails, music, and presumably, the ensuing party.
Tiffin founder Adrian Yap said that the event is “our take on the quintessential Malaysian food court experience, be it in a shopping mall, a suburban medan selera or the sprawling late night wai sek kai that are almost our second homes.”
Come hungry, and preferably in some kind of car service so you don’t have to worry about parking and drinking, and enjoy the goods prepared by pop-ups courtesy of fine dining restaurants like Dewakan’s Darren Teoh, and Sitka Studio’s Christian Recomio, without the fuss of the tablecloths or the eye-watering bills at the end. Authentic hawkers, hand-picked from Penang’s finest will have stalls, in addition to world cuisine that includes, and is not limited to, Japanese, Venezualan, Spanish and Catalan (#independence).
This thirsty editor’s top pick? Kuala Lumpur’s Bartender of the Year 2017, mean-maker of an old fashioned, CK Kho, who will be making cocktails all weekend long. If you can’t find me, just look for me there from now until Sunday.
